NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting Saturday afternoon in New Braunfels.
The incident occurred at the Sage Apartments around 4:15 p.m., when officers with the New Braunfels Police Department responded to reports of a disturbance between a man and a woman.
Upon arrival, two officers made contact with both people. During the interaction, the man reportedly brandished a sharp weapon and lunged toward the officers, causing them to discharge their service weapons. The man who was struck was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have identified the man as a 33-year-old man from Spring, Texas.
The two officers involved, who have a combined four years of service with the department, have been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is being conducted.
