KMOV Channel 32.1 to be the new home of the ABC Television Network, expanding local news coverage in St. Louis

  • July 24, 2026

ST. LOUIS, MO – July 24, 2026 – KMOV, Gray Media’s CBS affiliate in St. Louis, announced today that it will add ABC network programming to its broadcast channel lineup starting September 1, 2026. This major expansion will bring a significant increase in local news coverage to St. Louis viewers, filling a critical gap in the market where the current ABC affiliate does not offer local news.

With this addition, KMOV will leverage its award-winning “First Alert 4” news team to deliver dedicated local newscasts, First Alert Weather, and community coverage alongside ABC’s popular network programming. This move ensures that St. Louis viewers will finally have access to high-quality, local journalism during ABC dayparts and adjacent programming.

“This is a landmark moment for St. Louis viewers and a testament to our commitment to local journalism,” said KMOV Vice President and General Manager JD Sosnoff. “By bringing ABC programming to KMOV, we are not only expanding entertainment options but, more importantly, delivering vital local news and public service to a community that has been underserved in this area. KMOV’s award-winning news team is uniquely positioned to provide the high-quality, local coverage that St. Louis families deserve.”

The expansion will allow KMOV to produce additional hours of local news specifically tailored for the ABC audience, covering local stories, investigative reports, and real-time weather.

Viewers will be able to access the new ABC programming and expanded local newscasts over-the-air on channel 32.1 as well as through local cable, satellite, and streaming providers. A full programming schedule and launch details will be released in the coming weeks.
