A man told police he was shot in a leg while taking out garbage from his Baldwin Hills-area home Saturday.
The shooting was reported at about 4:15 p.m. Saturday at 3921 Santo Tomas Drive, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Charles Miller. That is west of Crenshaw Boulevard.
The man called 911 himself to report the shooting, Miller said.
Paramedics took the victim by ambulance to a hospital for treatment, he said.
A suspect description was not available.
