SCHENECTADY — Cameras appear to be rolling on “The Conjuring: First Communion,” the next installment of the record-breaking New Line horror franchise, currently filming at Armory Studios under the working title “Bridgeport.”
Production trailers and trucks have begun filling the streets around the Schenectady studio space, which recently held an immersive Titanic exhibit open to the public. The studio’s doors are closed to locals now, though, with “The Conjuring” (aka “Bridgeport”) shooting inside the production space located at 125 Washington Ave.
According to a notice posted outside Armory Studios, parking restrictions will be in effect around the studio from 8 p.m. on July 26 through 10 p.m. on July 28, as well as 8 p.m. on July 30 through 8 a.m. on Aug. 1. The streets where parking is restricted are Washington Avenue, Union Street, North Church Street and Front Street, as well as South Church Street between Union Street and State Street.
Little is known about the plot of “The Conjuring: First Communion” at this point other than the film’s status as a prequel that explores the early years of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. While Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga played the real-life married couple in all of the films so far in which they appeared, “First Communion” will feature Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix as young versions of Ed and Lorraine, respectively.
One trailer outside the studio is designated for a character named “Father Everett” — likely a new character introduced in “First Communion.”
“The Conjuring: First Communion” is expected to be filming in Schenectady and surrounding regions through early October, according to casting calls posted for the production under the “Bridgeport” title. The film is currently scheduled to premiere Sept. 10, 2027.
