Here are Sunday’s latest updates:
■ Israeli settlers set fire to a mosque, causing extensive damage to it, in the Palestinian village of Qusra, south of Nablus in the West Bank, and vandalized and stole property from residents, Palestinian reports said. The reports said settlers also set fire to cars in the town of Beitillu, northwest of Ramallah.
■ Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth, head of the IDF’s Central Command, barred Palestinians from entering Israeli settlements in the West Bank for the coming days. Under the order, Palestinians will still be permitted to work at factories located outside residential areas, while entry to construction sites will require prior approval.
■ A small drone crashed near National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s home in the settlement of Kiryat Arba, near the Palestinian city of Hebron in the West Bank, the minister’s office said, adding that the circumstances were under investigation.
■ The Israeli military said it mapped the homes of two Palestinians involved in Friday’s clashes near Nablus in which two Israelis and four Palestinians were killed, ahead of their planned sealing and demolition.
■ U.S. President Donald Trump delayed plans to expand the military campaign against Iran over concerns that a broader operation could dangerously deplete U.S. stocks of Patriot interceptor missiles and other air defense systems in the Middle East, U.S. administration officials told The New York Times.
■ Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned a Ukrainian attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, saying an explosion killed one sailor and wounded another. Tehran described the incident as an act of aggression and accused Ukraine of seeking to expand the Russia-Ukraine war. Iran said it would defend its national interests and security.
■ The U.S. military “redirected 12 commercial vessels” that tried to run its blockade of Iranian ports, “disabled” two that didn’t comply and boarded two “to ensure total compliance,” U.S. Central Command said.
■ Iranian and Omani officials discussed the Strait of Hormuz in Tehran over the weekend, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said, calling the talks productive and adding that technical and political consultations between the two sides are ongoing.
