After more than four decades, one of the most controversial slasher movies of all time is getting remade. A new version of Silent Night, Deadly Night, the remake will be coming out just in time for Christmas this year, set for a release in theaters on Dec. 12, 2025.
Per IGN, the first teaser trailer has been released for the remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night. Taking inspiration from the original, the film stars Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends) as a psychotic murderer embarking on a killing spree on Christmas Eve. Some of the kills are teased, including one moment where a woman is shown about to be impaled with deer antlers — a clear callback to scream queen Linnea Quigley’s death in the original. Silent Night, Deadly Night Comes Back to Theaters 41 Years After Protests
The original Silent Night, Deadly Night film was very controversial when it was released in 1984. Because the movie depicts a murderous version of Santa Claus, many parents grew concerned about the impact the marketing would have if seen by children. Protests were held outside of theaters which ultimately had the slasher film pulled from screenings, though it still became a cult classic in the genre, spawning a new franchise.
The new Silent Night, Deadly Night movie will be released in theaters on Dec. 12, 2025.
