A wreck on Interstate 20 shut down westbound lanes of the highway Friday afternoon near Hutchins in southern Dallas County, according to Texas Department of Transportation traffic cameras.

The crash that happened at around 2:30 p.m. involved an off-duty Hawk Cove Police Officer, according to the Dallas County sheriff’s office. Hawk Cove is a city in southern Hunt County, about 16 miles south of Greenville.

The officer, who was working traffic control for construction crews in the area, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, the sheriff’s office said.

Another person was also transported to the hospital in stable condition.
