FORT GREENE — “BROOKLYN’S BRIDGE,” A new musical featuring an original score by composer Joseph Baker, with book, lyrics and direction by Ray Roderick and choreography by Kelli Barclay, will be performed at The Space and Irondale, 85 South Oxford St., from Aug. 7 through Aug. 23.
The musical tells the story of the borough’s best-known landmark, telling the story of Emily Roebling and the conception of the Brooklyn Bridge through songs, dance and a 10-person cast. The stage transforms into the Roeblings’ Brooklyn Heights home, the bustling streets and the construction site of the bridge, using cables, scaffolding and platforms to embrace the whole space and story.
Evening performances take place on Wednesdays through Sundays at 7:30 and matinee performances are on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are available at the Irondale’s website.
