PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A postal worker is facing charges after federal investigators said he beat his co-worker with a 25-pound, nearly 5-foot-long steel pipe.
It happened at the USPS Processing and Distribution Center in Eastwick on July 21.
According to court documents, Steven Louis heard his co-worker was talking behind his back.
The feds said Louis grabbed a safety bar from a piece of mail equipment, confronted his coworker, and hit him — first in the chest, according to a witness, and then in the head, leaving him seriously hurt.
The victim was knocked off his feet, unconscious and bleeding. He suffered a fractured cheekbone and needed 18 stitches.
Court documents said Louis, who lives in Bustleton, admitted to the attack.
He is charged with assault on a federal officer and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
