3 arrested in connection with West Side drug raids seizing more than 1,000 grams of meth, weapons

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Three people were arrested in connection with two separate, but related, drug raids on the West Side, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

More than 1,000 grams of methamphetamine, cocaine and several weapons were seized, the sheriff’s office said.

The two search warrants were executed simultaneously on Thursday afternoon and lasted several hours, BCSO said.

The first incident happened at a tire shop in the 1200 block of Culebra Road. Deputies recovered 1,060.35 grams of meth, 16 grams of cocaine and four handguns.

A second location in the 700 block of South San Dario Avenue was also raided. There, deputies recovered 3.56 grams of meth, a rifle and a handgun.

Marie Carmona, 51, was arrested at the tire shop, while Aaron Hernandez Rodriguez, 53, and Encarnacion Gutierrez, 54, were arrested at a separate location.

They face the following charges, according to the sheriff’s office:

  • Carmona faces two counts of manufacturing and delivering penalty group 1 controlled substances (one count with more than 400 grams and one count between 4 and 200 grams)

  • Hernandez Rodriguez faces three charges, including manufacturing and delivering penalty group 1 controlled substances (one count with more than 400 grams and one count between 4 and 200 grams) and engaging in organized criminal activity.

  • Gutierrez faces two counts of manufacturing and delivering penalty group 1 controlled substances (one count with more than 400 grams and one count between 4 and 200 grams)

BCSO said Daniel Perales, 54, was later identified and arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance (between 1 and 4 grams of penalty group 1/1-B).

It is unclear what Perales’ connection is to the other three people arrested.

BCSO’s Organized Crime Division and its tactical unit conducted the operation.
