A sweet screen star from L.A. is arriving in the Bay Area — the one whose doughnut sign has made cameo appearances in movies and TV shows like “The Simpsons,” “Arrested Development” and “Iron Man 2.”
Randy’s Donuts, which began in Inglewood in 1952, will introduce customers to its long lineup of doughnuts starting Friday in Santa Clara, the beginning of a planned Bay Area expansion.
There will be free swag and doughnuts for the first 25 customers in line at 7 a.m. Friday at 2595 Homestead Road. From then until noon, all guests will receive a free Glazed Raised doughnut.
This expansion by the Sweet Rings franchise business and partner Ausaf Masud has been a long time coming — it’s been in the works since at least 2019. The new location is near Stan’s Donut Shop, a fixture in Santa Clara since 1959.
The close-to-50-item menu at Randy’s includes a selection of old-school doughnuts, including raised, buttermilk and cake doughnuts with a variety of additions — think chocolate, maple, vanilla and cherry glazes and crumb, sprinkle and sugar toppings. Premium doughnuts also come topped with Nutella, matcha or coffee frosting, plus s’more, Oreo and Fruity Pebbles toppings.
On the drinks front, it offers an array of specialty coffee drinks, boba, milkshakes and frozen and iced fruity beverages.
The chain now boasts over 50 locations worldwide, including in Korea, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines and Japan, as well as in various cities around the U.S.
Details: Randy’s will open at 6 a.m. daily, closing at 9 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays and 10 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays. 2595 Homestead Road, Santa Clara; randysdonuts.com/locations/santa-clara-ca.
