JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is dead after an early morning shooting on the city’s Southside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Around 3 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to the 8400 block of Gate Parkway West, where they found a man in his mid-20s dead from a gunshot wound.
Neighbors at Citigate Apartments tell News4JAX there was a large crime scene on the property. JSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene Units responded to investigate.
“There are multiple people detained, and detectives are speaking with them about what occurred,” a JSO Sergeant with the Homicide Unit wrote in an email. “At this time, we do not know the circumstances of the incident or the relationships of those involved.”
The man’s identity has not been released. JSO said they are working closely with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office to determine how the case will be classified.
