LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The La Crosse Steam hosted a Steppin’ Out in Pink Night on Wednesday at Copeland Park to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and patient care programs at Emplify Health by Gundersen.
The event coincided with the Steam’s final home game of the season and featured representatives from Steppin’ Out in Pink, as well as this year’s Survivor Advocate. The organization used the platform to promote the 21st annual Steppin’ Out in Pink fundraising walk, scheduled for September 12 at Riverside Park in La Crosse.
Steam player Aubriella Garza spoke about the importance of supporting the cause.
“It’s just another reason to enjoy the sport and play for those that matter the most to us,” Garza said. “Being able to support those who are in need or just raise awareness is really important.”
Steppin’ Out in Pink is an annual community fundraising event dedicated to supporting breast cancer initiatives in the La Crosse area. The September walk brings together community members, survivors, and supporters to raise funds for research and patient care programs.
Emplify Health by Gundersen, which benefits from the fundraising efforts, provides comprehensive breast cancer services including screening, diagnosis, treatment, and support programs for patients and their families.
The Steam’s Steppin’ Out in Pink Night provided an opportunity for fans to learn more about the organization’s mission while enjoying an evening of softball.
