Multiple shootings across Jacksonville leave five people shot, one dead

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville experienced four separate shootings overnight, resulting in at least five people shot. One incident was fatal, and another left a victim in critical condition.

Around 3 a.m., JSO officers responded to a shooting at Citigate Apartments on Gate Parkway West. Upon arrival, they found a man in his mid-20s who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Multiple people were detained, and detectives are speaking with them about what occurred. At this time, JSO says they do not have the circumstances of the incident or know the relationships of everyone involved.

Another shooting occurred on Edgewood Avenue South around 3 a.m. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim told police he was approached by an unknown suspect while walking. He remains in critical condition.

Edgewood Avenue is currently closed from Highway to Nolan due to an ongoing police investigation.

Earlier, around 1 a.m., a woman was shot in the head while walking along Monaco Drive in North Jacksonville. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The series of shootings began around 8 p.m. the previous night at Woodstock Park off Beaver Street, where two teenagers were shot.

The teens told officers that two men approached them demanding their backpacks. The teens complied but were shot as they tried to run away. Both are expected to recover.
