A New York content creator has found a novel way to plan out his adventures in the city.
On his account, 5HourUpload, Alan Shen posts videos where he launches a dart at a map of New York City. He then explores the neighborhood where the dart landed.
Shen joined NY1 anchor Shannan Ferry on “News All Day” to discuss the people he has met while exploring the city.
“People are happy to share information about their neighborhood,” Shen said.
Shen’s travels have taken him to Starrett City, Floyd Bennett Field, and other unique locations around the city. He spoke about the impact he hopes his videos are having.
“There were comments from non-New Yorkers saying they didn’t know that New York wasn’t all tall buildings and a concrete jungle,” Shen added. “They were saying that my videos were humanizing New York.”
