Apple is best known for two things, their thirst for innovation and their sleek design that separates them from other companies. Since the first product that they launched they have maintained a sort of clean minimalist aesthetic that does very well along with the price tag, but a few years ago they decided to appeal to a different audience and released the rose gold color for their iPhone which, although a departure for the company, was also their attempt to appear to a younger market. Now, they seem to have tried this again by launching the new iPhone 17 in a new and unexpected color that has already divided the public, and that is even before it has been officially announced.
The news came through a leak, not an official statement from the company, so for all we know this could be a marketing stunt to get the public talking ahead of the new launch, as, if they are busy commenting on the color, they will be more likely to check out the new product and more likely to dismiss the increase in price due to the new tariffs imposed by Trump.
The new iPhone 17 color that is dividing Social Media
The leaker is a historically trusted source, Sonny Dickson, who has broken more than one piece of news regarding the tech company, so we are inclined to give this new leak a seal of approval. The new color that the iPhone 17 Pro Max could come in is orange. Now, this is still Apple we are talking about, so it will likely not be the aggressive orange we have seen in previous smartphones from other brands through the years.
According to Dickson the new color would be more of a mix between dark gold and copper, which would compliment the past colors that the company has used in the past. Having said that, it would be the first time Apple has chosen such a bold color in its premium line, and those used to the austere look of the company are not thrilled with the change.
Social media reactions were quick to come in, and that is before having laid eyes on the product. One user on X (formerly Twitter) expressed “The orange hue is awful, it looks like dried urine”
But it seems like the changes are not stopping there, as alongside the debated orange option, Apple is rumored to be on the verge of introducing new hues like blue, green, and purple, offering users more variety without compromising the sleek aesthetic the brand is known for. Another design tweak on the horizon is that the camera lens cover will reportedly match the phone’s body color, so that this subtle change can help unify the overall look and giving every phone its identity separate from the others.
We will still need to wait a little bit for the launch of the awaited iPhone 17, as Apple is known for its September launches, but once the product is here, we will be able to judge the new colors and how well they fit on the company’s lineup. The date has been tentatively announced as September 9, 2025 and then we will be able to see all the new technology that has been included, any changes in the working of the iPhone and all the new colors, models, and features.
Another leak has announced that the new 2025 lineup will include four models, the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, but while devoted fans wait patiently (or not) to find out the new improvements in the cameras, processors, and batteries, social media will continue to debate the new colors that have been released.
