Jannik Sinner is not the only Italian player who is winning titles on the ATP Tour in 2025.

Sinner has won Wimbledon and the Australian Open titles this year, maintaining his place at the top of the ATP rankings.

However, he has not been able to win any titles on the ATP Tour, with Sinner being banned for three months between February and May.

Although he has won two of the biggest titles in tennis this year, there is now an Italian ATP player who has now won more tournaments in 2025.

Luciano Darderi has won two titles in as many weeks at post-Wimbledon clay court tournaments in Bastad and Umag.

The 23-year-old, who is just seven months older than Sinner, has now won four ATP 250 clay court tournaments in his career.

Three of those title victories have come in 2025 at tournaments in Marrakech, Bastad and Umag, meaning that Darderi is one of only three ATP players to win three titles so far this year.

Roland Garros champion Carlos Alcaraz leads this list with five titles, being joined by Darderi and Alexander Bublik.

Like Darderi, Bublik has also won back-to-back titles on clay to continue his recent resurgent form.

Despite being the world number one by 3430 points, Sinner is not on this list yet with just two titles so far this year.

Sinner is not the only top 10 Italian ATP player who has not made this list like Darderi, with Roland Garros semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti yet to win a title in 2025.

Musetti has produced some impressive results this year, including reaching the Monte Carlo Masters final, but has still only won two ATP titles in his career, and has not won one since 2022.

The only Italian ATP player other than Sinner and Darderi to win a singles title this year is Flavio Cobolli, who is tipped as a potential US Open dark horse.

What was unusual about Luciano Darderi’s title win at the Croatia Open?

While there were scenes of great celebration at the Croatia Open for Darderi, there was also a concerning sight in the immediate aftermath of the final.

In the final game of his victory over Carlos Taberner, Darderi appeared to roll his ankle before bringing up match point.

However, after Taberner hit the ball into the net, Darderi collapsed to the ground in celebration before he began to clutch at his ankle.

Taberner had to help Darderi limp over to his chair, before he was checked on for 10 minutes before the post-match ceremony.

It is currently unclear as to how serious this injury is, with Darderi now expecting to head to North America.

Darderi remains in the Canadian Open draw, where he is set to play a qualifier, and will likely be scheduled to compete on Monday, July 28.
