Acrisure Arena welcomes a couple of music legends. At 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, travel back in time for a double dose of hits from Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind and Fire. Fantasy Springs is hosting some cool concerts. At 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, The Australian Pink Floyd Show—a Pink Floyd tribute from down under that swaps the inflatable pig for a kangaroo—will bring their Floyd-honoring sound to Indio. The Plaza Theatre features music, movies and more! At 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 2, the Desert Classical Series returns with Latsos Piano Duo, who will perform classic piano duets. Tickets start at $25. At 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, the Disney classic Frozen will be screened as a part of the Summer Sing-Along series. Tickets are $20. Viral comic Jessica Kirson brings a billion views and plenty of laughs at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 15. Tickets start at $55.80 on Friday and $54.15 on Saturday. At 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 22, cinema history hits the Plaza with a screening of The Wizard of Oz, featuring a Q&A with Judy Garland’s granddaughter Vanessa O’Neil. Tickets are $20. At 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, French flamenco pop stars Gipsy Kings featuring Nicolas Reyes with Reyes Heritage will perform. Tickets start at $68.71. At 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, bona fide country king Dwight Yoakam will bring his transcendent yeehaw sound to town. Tickets start at $81.19. Another month means another slate of residency events at Agua Caliente Palm Springs. Desert Blues Revival Wednesdays showcase Texas, Chicago and New Orleans blues from BoneThumpers (Aug. 5), vivacious vocals from Chris Thayer (Aug. 12) and a tribute to Van Morrison from Wild Night (Aug. 19). Shows are at 7 p.m., and tickets start at $17.85. Carousel Thursdays feature a tribute to legendary jazz voice Joe Williams from Doug MacDonald Quartet (Aug. 6), virtuosic bass skills from the Mauricio Morales Trio (Aug. 13), tasteful guitar chops from the Will Brahm Trio (Aug. 20) and a tribute to the songs of Schoolhouse Rock! by Skip Heller (Aug. 27). Here are some highlights from a stacked calendar at Pappy and Harriet’s. At 9 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 2, instrumental surf-rockers Los Straitjackets bring their reverb-soaked mix to the desert.
