North Texas has been getting major business as of late. Whether it’s H-E-B, Whole Foods or a famed Texas barbecue joint, Dallas-Fort Worth and its surrounding towns are seeing well known brands continue to invest in the Metroplex. Now North Texas shoppers will soon be getting a high-dollar boost toward their next shopping sprees.
Target and TJ Maxx have both submitted plans for upgrades in North Texas in the form of new constructions and renovations respectively. All together the two brands are investing $12.3 million toward expanding its presence across the mega metro.
Target is planning to build an $11 million store in Fort Worth, located at 5900 Retail Way, Fort Worth, TX 76177, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). The filing was submitted on Tuesday, July 29, but the TDLR lists the construction start date as July 1, 2025, with work aiming to be finished by August 31, 2026. All TDLR filings are subject to change without notice, so MySA has reached out to Target to confirm the construction timeline.
Once finished, the Chisholm Trail Target will be the brand’s sixth store in Fort Worth, according to the store locator.
TJ Maxx meanwhile is converting an existing building at 3166 SH 161, Suite 120, Grand Prairie, TX 75052 into the city’s newest retail spot. The $1.3 million renovation/alteration will see the entire 25,000-square-foot space transformed into a TJ Maxx, according to a TDLR filing. Construction is expected to begin on October 1 and wrap up by March 1, 2027.
There are around 20 TJ Maxx stores across the DFW but this will be the first in Grand Prairie. Once finished, locals will no longer have to drive to Arlington for their shopping needs.
