Steve Earle hasn’t released an album of new material since 2020, but he’s got timeless tunes to burn — and tales, too.
On Aug, 12, the 71-year-old Texas legend brings his “51 Years of Songs & Stories” tour to Arlington, a preview of sorts of his long-delayed memoir, I Can’t Remember If We Said Goodbye — a line from his classic “Goodbye.”
Hopefully he’ll play that 1995 ballad in his solo show, as well as “City of Immigrants,” the subject of a timely new video shot in New York City and directed by Steve Buscemi. Maybe he’ll perform the North Texas debut of “Volver a Celaya,” which he wrote and recorded with Los Lobos, reportedly for the upcoming stage adaptation of Tender Mercies. And no Earle show would be complete without “Copperhead Road,” his outlaw tale of bootlegging, pot growing and family tradition.
