‘Ted Lasso’ fans celebrate as Kansas City landmarks and KC Current debut in season 4
KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Season four of the popular sitcom Ted Lasso premiered this week, featuring several iconic Kansas City locations as the cast explored Ted Lasso’s (played by Jason Sudeikis) hometown.
Back in 2025, Sudeikis and production crews were spotted filming scenes in several locations, including the Plaza, Blue Springs and Lee’s Summit.
A major plot point of the new season centers around the characters taking inspiration from the KC Current after attending their first women’s soccer match.
On Wednesday, fans of the show gathered at the Current Landing to watch the stadium and its fans make their debut on the television show.
“It’s a very nice cameo of a lot of places that we all talk about. When people come visit me in Kansas City, those are the places they want to hit,” Sheryl Mayes, a fan of the show, said.
As one representative with the KC Current explained, it was a chance to showcase Kansas City to the world.
“I think it’s going to hopefully have more people visit, have more people come out and watch the Kansas City Current play, eat barbecue, understand the difference between Missouri and Kansas,” Senior Vice President of Commercial for the KC Current Missy Jenkins said.
But it also gave the spotlight to a team that has been a trailblazer for women’s sports.
“The storylines changed more in perfect fit with what we have behind us and the growth of women’s soccer, especially in Kansas City,” Andy Mariani, a fan of the show, said.
While watching, fans could spot iconic locations including Gates Bar-B-Q, the Negro Leagues Museum, CPKC Stadium, Country Club Plaza and the American Jazz Museum.
Several other locations can be spotted throughout the episode.
For some fans, it tacked on even more love for the heartfelt sitcom.
“Having Jason Sudeikis from Kansas City is a little extra bonus,” one fan said.
