Medicines declared not of standard quality can pose risks if they contain the wrong amount of active ingredient Jaipur: Commissionerate of food safety and drugs control Thursday reported quality failures in eight medicines tested between July 16 and 31, 2026, raising concerns over drugs used for common health conditions including high blood pressure, infections, allergies, pain and emergency steroid treatment.According to the notice, samples collected in Rajasthan by drug control officers were declared “not of standard quality” after testing and analysis. Authorities said the available stock of the affected batches must not be consumed and should be withdrawn to protect patients. Cefogee-O is an antibiotic used for bacterial infections affecting areas such as the chest, urinary tract, stomach, ear, nose or throat. Regiox-200 LB is also an antibiotic and may include a probiotic to reduce antibiotic-associated loose motions.Senogyl-400 is used for infections caused by certain germs and parasites, including amoebiasis, giardiasis, dental infections and some stomach or pelvic infections. L-CETRAMAC is an allergy medicine used for sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, itching and hives.Betamethasone Sodium Phosphate Injection, a steroid injection used in serious allergy, swelling, asthma attacks and some immune-related conditions, was also among the products listed. It is meant to be administered only under medical supervision.Formaldehyde Solution BP was also included. It is not a routine medicine for swallowing or injection and is mainly used for disinfection, preservation and laboratory or mortuary purposes.Tanydol 100, a pain medicine used for moderate to severe pain, was also named in the testing failure.Officials have called for the affected stock to be traced through the supply chain, withdrawn from use and replaced with safe alternatives where needed.
