Celebrate pumpkins, ghosts and skeletons early with Historic Downtown Glendale’s Summerween event on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026. This free family event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The holiday originated from an episode of Disney’s animated show “Gravity Falls,” in which the town of Gravity Falls celebrates Halloween twice a year because residents love it so much. In fact, nearly 50% of Americans begin purchasing Halloween decor in the summer months. Many of the shops and eateries throughout the Historic Catlin Court and Old Towne Entertainment Districts are planning special Summerween activities. From cute pink ghosts and jack-o-melons to skeletons dressed in bikinis, the area will be ready to welcome guests to this fun-filled event.
Activities planned for the day include an area-wide Ghost Bingo with prizes, make-and-take crafts, themed menu items at the one-of-a-kind eateries, and Summerween-inspired gifts and decor at the locally owned boutiques and specialty shops. Guests can also begin — or add to — the Downtown Glendale Charm Bracelet featuring an iconic Summerween charm drop. Wearing a favorite Halloween costume with a summer twist is encouraged.
Begin at the Arizona Information Center located at Memory Lane Trinkets and Treasures, 5836 W. Palmaire Avenue, to pick up the activity list, Ghost Bingo card and event map. The first 100 guests will receive a Summerween event sticker. End the day at 2Share a Unique Boutique, 5807 W. Glendale Avenue, for Bingo prize announcements.
Summerween is sponsored by the Historic Downtown Glendale Merchants Association in partnership with 2Share a Unique Boutique and the Historic Downtown business community. For more information, visit visitdowntownglendale.com or call 623-299-2060.
