Crews battled a brush fire in the area of Kearny Villa Road and state Route 163 Friday afternoon, and traffic may be affected.
The fire was burning in “light, flashy fuels,” San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesperson Candace Hadley said.
Hadley said no structures were threatened, but a stretch of Kearny Villa Road at state Route 52 was shut down as crews tried to prevent the head of the fire from jumping the road.
Just after 3:41 p.m., the agency said on social media that the 2-acre fire “has been knocked down.” It said crews will stay at the site to douse any remaining hot spots.
California Highway Patrol online logs indicate a request to shut down the transition ramp from northbound SR-163 to westbound SR-52.
San Diego police said callers reported seeing flames at SR-52 and Interstate 15.
