For some kids, nothing says summertime like playing with the water hose! Whether they’re using it to make a bike-washing station in the driveway or simply running through the sprinkler, the hose can provide countless hours of fun!

From the animal world, we recently learned that elephants also enjoy playing with garden hoses—and they’ll even argue over them when someone doesn’t want to share! Recently, @sheldrickwildlifetrust shared a video of their young elephants enjoying the simple pleasures of a garden hose—as well as fighting over the ownership of it!

As the video starts, we see Korbessa, Mwinzi, and Natibu all holding on to a section of the watering hose. Each little pachyderm uses the power of their trunk to get a good grip but ultimately, Korbessa decides she’s not really interested in a tug-of-war with the bulls, so she heads off on a new quest.

This leaves Mwinzi with primary control and Natibu hoping his persistence can move the needle in his favor. Mwinzi isn’t interested in sharing just yet, so he wraps his long trunk around the hose and backs away from Natibu.

After a few moments of just letting Mwinzi keep the hose, Natibu decides to just take it. With a big tug, he is able to get a few big swigs of fresh water before Mwinzi snatches the garden hose back—in very dramatic fashion!

These young elephants act just like siblings, with their personalities shining through a little more each day. They have a growing fan base who enjoy the content that Sheldrick Wildlife Trust shares regularly. Let’s see what the fans have to say about the garden hose antics!

Here are a few of the highlights from the comment section:

“The elephants’ personalities shine through in this clip! Mwinzi’s determination to keep the hose is hilarious, while Natibu’s persistence adds a fun twist. These playful moments really showcase their unique traits!”

“Seeing how quickly they flip the hose into their mouths is amazing! Great example of how versatile those trunks are!!”

“OMG! It must be like running a kindergarten!”

This little competition is highly reminiscent of human children challenging each other to a hose ownership duel! We can’t wait to see what these extra-large mammals do next!
