Giant Runt Gallery will present “GReasy,” a group exhibition showcasing the work of Easyside’s seven current members, including Francisco Josué Alvarado Araujo, Claire Kennedy, Christopher Nájera Estrada, Carrie Iverson, Jesse Morgan Barnett, Magaly Cantú, and Maria Barrientos.
The title “GReasy,” a portmanteau of Giant Runt Gallery and Easyside, hints at the curatorial logic of the exhibition. Unlike previous Giant Runt group shows, the artists at Easyside all know each other and they share proximity through studio space, but they are also a community, working together to run a food pantry, host events, and put on exhibitions.
Each artist’s practice is their own, differentiated by material choices, conceptual motivations, and processes. The exhibition will lean into the duality of existing as part of a community and as an individual artist, exploring through curation how relationships form and develop among the work of Easyside’s cohort.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through September 12.
