The World Cup may be over, but in some ways the soccer tournament is still being celebrated in the city.
Work continues in August on some World Cup murals. There are 12 murals located in parks in all five boroughs.
Some murals are completed; others are still being painted. The initiative launched last month with several city agencies and the nonprofit Groundswell.
The group brings together youth, artists and community organizations to use art as a tool for social change. The executive director, Yvonne Brathwaite, spoke with NY1’s Rocco Vertuccio on “Weekends on 1.”
