Crash happened late Friday near Westover and Telephone in southeast Houston, police say

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run after a man in a wheelchair was struck while using a marked crosswalk Friday night.
Officers were called to the area of 7500 Westover Drive at Telephone Road around 10:05 p.m.
Investigators said the man, believed to be about 71 years old, was crossing when a vehicle traveling southbound on Telephone hit him. The driver continued on without stopping to help.
Police described the suspect vehicle as a small white sedan.
HPD Sgt. D. Griffiths said the man was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
