A pedestrian died after an SUV struck him late Friday near Dallas’ Medical District, sending him into the path of an unoccupied autonomous vehicle, police said.
Officers were called about 11:30 p.m. to Maple Avenue and Lucas Drive. A preliminary investigation found that the man entered Maple Avenue and was struck by a southbound SUV. The impact sent him into the northbound lane, where the autonomous vehicle hit him, police said.
He was taken to a hospital, where he died. Authorities had not released his identity Saturday.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene. Police did not announce any arrests or charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
