Thrissur: Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturers’ Association of India (AMMOI) has urged the state govt to take steps to secure the proposed All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) for Kerala.According to AMMOI, Centre has announced plans to set up three new AIIAs in different parts of the country. Ayush department secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha has invited states interested in hosting an AIIA to submit specific proposals.“Kerala stands a good chance of getting an AIIA if the authorities make an effective initiative,” AMMOI general secretary Dr D Ramanathan said.In his letter, Kotecha said the proposed AIIAs would serve as centres of excellence in Ayurveda, focusing on high-quality education, advanced research, specialised healthcare services and capacity building in the field.“These premier institutions are envisaged to assume leadership positions in Ayurveda medical education, healthcare and research in the respective regions and would be expected to undergo augmentation of facilities and services over time,” the letter stated.
