Dozens of people were evacuated from a building Wednesday in Westminster after a suspect barricaded themselves inside, prompting a standoff and lockdown that lasted several hours, officials said.
The Los Angeles Police Department was tracking a wanted felony suspect when the suspect entered the building at Beach Boulevard and 15th Street before 3 p.m. and refused to come out, according to the Westminster Police Department. The building appears to house various offices and businesses.
SWAT resources eventually entered the building and evacuated those who had been inside since the incident began. Police said at least 100 people were escorted from that building and the surrounding buildings.
The suspect was taken into custody around 9:30 p.m., the WPD said. It’s unknown if they were armed.
No injuries were reported, officials said.
Westminster police, the LAPD and other law enforcement agencies responded.
