Home developments are reaching Burleson and stand to transform a city that is ready to grow on its terms.
The construction of Burleson’s first master-planned community is underway. R.A. Development Ltd., a Burleson-based company, has been intentional about when and where they build, said Justin Bond, the company’s chief operations officer.
“This is our backyard, our hometown,” Bond said. “And because of the partnership that we had with the city and the way they wanted to see growth happen over here on the west side of town, we’ve really been able, in the last five years, to make this a reality.”

R.A. Development is building Chisholm Summit, a 800-acre project with about 2,500 homes, Bond said. Burleson has called the project its first master-planned community and more developments are on their way. The projects follow a conscious effort by the city to work with housing developments.
Chisholm Summit is west of downtown Burleson, near the intersection of the Chisholm Trail Parkway and FM 1902. R.A. Development is building phases one through three of Chisholm Summit, which will account for nearly 400 homes, along with a new 10-acre park and a couple of miles of trails, Bond said.
New homes will be under construction during the first and second quarter of 2027 and people could move in by the summer of 2027, Bond said. Roads will be paved this fall and underground wet utilities have been completed.
Home prices will range from the low $400,000s to the $600,000s, depending on market conditions, Bond said. Bloomfield Homes, David Weekley Homes, Bransom Homes and Graham Hart are builders on the project. Bond said builders have been confident in the Chisholm Summit development.

“We think Burleson is an area that may not be top of the map for folks that look at, let’s say northeast Dallas or Collin County,” Bond said. “But the community here is something that we’re proud of and we see builders really aligning with us on that thought.”
Chisholm Summit will be Burleson’s first master-planned community. The 800 acre project with have about 2,500 homes.

Burleson is also receiving another master-planned development along the Chisholm Trail Parkway. Tallgrass is a $1 billion project that will include approximately 4,000 new homes, according to city documents.
The development was approved by Burleson City Council in October 2025 and construction is set to begin this year. Tallgrass representatives didn’t respond to a request for comment for this article.
Burleson is a city with a population of about 57,000 people, according to 2025 Census estimates. Adding 2,500 homes through Chisholm Summit could mean about 10,000 or more people come to the city, Bond said.

When you add in communities like Tallgrass and other potential developments, that could mean a whole other Burleson, he said.
Initial home construction for Chisholm Summit is set to take place in 2027. Other developments like Tallgrass are also coming to the Burleson area.

Chisholm Summit and Tallgrass are both projects that will develop over the course of about 20 years, said Alex Philips, Burleson’s economic development director. When these developments are fully built out, the projects could have added 20,000 more people to the city, he said.
Burleson still wants to keep a small town feel as it grows. Philips said that means the little things, like still having parades through downtown. Planning for development and more people means investing in infrastructure like roadways along with water and sewer, he said.

The city worked with the Chisholm Summit developers for a decade prior to announcing the development, Philips said. For Tallgrass, the city reached out to a property near Chisholm Summit to discuss what was happening next door and to see if they were exploring developing their property, which led to a development agreement. Philips said some of the city’s priorities included incorporating trails and parks.
“Being a suburb of Fort Worth, we’re always going to be growing as long as the metroplex is growing, we’re going to be growing,” Philips said. “But we want to grow in our own way, and be very intentional of building relationships and connecting with people that still hold those same core values of being part of a community, than just trying to get anybody and everybody into town.”
