PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Who needs a plane ticket when the deep blue sea is waiting for you right in the heart of the desert?
The Arizona Science Center is making a serious case for staying local this summer with “Sounds of the Ocean,” a jaw-dropping, 47-minute multisensory dive beneath the surface of the Central Pacific Ocean, now showing at the Dorrance DOME.
Think whale songs echoing overhead. Dolphin calls bouncing off the walls. Crashing waves and underwater ambiance wrapping around you in stunning 8K-plus resolution
“[It’s] the most immersive, technologically advanced planetarium on Earth, right here in Phoenix,” said Alec Warren, Director of Dorrance DOME Experiences and Planetarium.
The show has already wowed audiences across Europe, Oceania, and the United States, and Phoenix is one of the select U.S. cities lucky enough to host it.
Inside the dome, you’ll sink into reclining seats in a cool 65-degree environment while the ocean swallows you whole from every angle. Traditional theater-style seating is also available for those who prefer it.
The show makes its debut on Thursday, Aug. 20., and tickets will be available through December. Warren encouraged visitors to book early, as dates are selling out quickly.
