The eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 past Granbury Road have reopened following a Fort Worth Police Department investigation into an “apparent” road rage shooting.
Shortly before 1 p.m., Texas Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed free-moving traffic on both sides of the roadway.
The investigation closed all eastbound lanes of I-20 for about six hours. The left shoulder and far left lane of westbound I-20 near Granbury Road were also closed, TxDOT cameras showed.
According to a statement from FWPD spokeswoman Cynthia Wood, officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of I-20 about 6:30 a.m. after reports of a shooting.
Once there, police found a woman, who wasn’t publicly identified, inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. Witnesses told police the woman and the suspect had been traveling eastbound when the suspect pulled up and fired shots at her before fleeing the scene, Wood said.
Responders attempted life-saving measures, but the woman died at the scene, Wood said.
