DYERSVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) – After a four-year hiatus, Major League Baseball returns to the iconic Field of Dreams movie site.
The new permanent ballpark is hosting the Minnesota Twins and the Philadelphia Phillies. It’s the third time MLB has come to the stadium. This will be the first MLB game played in the new stadium, which seats up to 8,000 fans.
First pitch for the game started on time at 6:30 p.m. after a day of intermittent rain and storms. However, the downpour wasn’t enough to stop the hotly-anticipated game.
If you don’t have tickets to the game, Dubuque County Sheriff Joe Kennedy urges people to stay away to avoid adding to the congestion.
“People that are coming up and just wanting to see what is all going on, please do not do that,” he said. “You will not be allowed access down the road. You will not see anything. You are just going to cause us problems.”
If you can’t attend, the game will be livestreamed on Netflix.
In case of rain delays
Dyersville Events says the game may be postponed to Friday if rain continues. Any rain delay updates will be announced on MLB.com.
KCRG-TV9 will have coverage throughout the day in newscasts and on our app.
