Jessica Alba’s new romance is in the early stages, but the “connection” is there.

The actress and Honest Company co-founder, 44, has been spotted several times with The Last of Us actor Danny Ramirez, most recently sharing a kiss in the streets of Los Angeles.

The stars’ relationship, which comes months after Alba filed for divorce from husband Cash Warren, is “casual,” a source tells PEOPLE.

“She’s been testing the waters with Danny,” the source says. “It’s still casual, but there is a connection.”

The source notes that Alba had kept her budding romance with Ramirez, 32, out of the spotlight, but things changed after they were spotted returning from Mexico together earlier in July. (Photos obtained at the time by TMZ showed Alba boarding a flight from Cancún with Ramirez, after the pair spent time in the area together.)

“She was trying to keep it quiet, but after they were photographed returning from Cancún, she doesn’t feel the need to hide it anymore,” the source says. “She enjoys dating him. She’s pretty unapologetic about her life just in general and wants to enjoy as much as possible.”

Plus, the source says, Alba “loves her independence and new life.”

“She’s great to be around,” the source adds. “She’s very happy, full of energy and light. This is a great year for her personally.”

After the Trigger Warning actress and Captain America: Brave New World star first sparked romance rumors while returning from Cancún, an insider previously told PEOPLE things are “very new” between the actors. “They’re having a good time together,” the insider said.

On July 23, Alba and Ramirez were photographed together again, this time smiling inside a car after a dinner outing in Los Angeles. Two days later, they were seen on a PDA-filled outing in L.A., during which they shared a kiss.

The Sin City actress’ burgeoning romance comes after she filed for divorce from Warren in February citing irreconcilable differences. She filed for joint custody of their three children (Honor, 17, Haven, 13, and Hayes, 7).

Alba and Warren — who first met in 2004 and married in May 2008 — officially separated in December 2024, according to the divorce filing.

Alba first broke her silence about her split from Warren in January, when she said in a statement that, though it was time for them to “embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals,” their kids remain their “highest priority.”
