USC head football coach Shane Beamer welcomed the media Monday to the Cobblestone Park Golf Club for 18 holes of golf and then plenty of football talk.

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — The Cobblestone Park Golf Club in Blythewood was the site for the fifth annual “Birdies with Beamer” media golf outing.

Head coach Shane Beamer was a late arrival as he and his coaches were in Greenville speaking at the SCACA clinic.

The coach and his staff did arrive in plenty of time for a news conference following the 18-hole tournament.

Beamer talked about the season opener which will take place in Atlanta against Virginia Tech, Beamer’s alma mater and the school where his father established his legendary career. That connection to the opening opponent of 2025 will be an exhausted storyline.

“Honestly, I’ll be glad when it’s over, because I’ll be tired. I’ll be ready to be done answering those questions,” Beamer said Monday.

“I started out at Georgia Tech as a graduate assistant. I played Georgia Tech, I went to Tennessee next, I coached against Tennessee. Then I went to Mississippi State, I’ve coached against Mississippi State. Then from there, I went to South Carolina. When I was at Georgia. I coached against South Carolina. Then I went to Virginia Tech, and haven’t coached against Virginia Tech yet, but, and then there’s Georgia, and then at South Carolina coached against Georgia. So I’ve been back or coached against the places that I’ve been.”
