On the first anniversary of the September 11 attacks there was a rolling Mozart Requiem concert. voices/LA is continuing that tradition 24 years later, at 8 p.m. Friday at Glendale First United Methodist Church, 134 N. Kenwood St.
The program is Mozart’s Requiem with orchestra and a few other smaller works. The concert runs until 9:30 p.m.
April Amante sings soprano. She made her Carnegie Hall solo debut as Mrs. Sinclair in Eric Whitacre’s The Gift of the Magi, sang Seconda Ancella in LA Opera’s Turandot in 2024, and has been a featured soloist several times with the Los Angeles Master Chorale for Handel’s Messiah. Hannah Little is also among the soloists.
The concert honors those who died in the September 11 attacks. It is free and has been underwritten by members of the local community. Donations will be accepted.
Attendees are asked to RSVP. The seat costs nothing but the organizers ask for the reservation.
