A Dallas police officer is facing a second-degree felony aggravated assault charge, according to a news release Wednesday from the department.
Senior Cpl. Scott Jay turned himself in to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday on a warrant from the Dallas Police Department for aggravated assault with bodily injury, the department said.
Jay was placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal investigation, according to the release. He’s been employed with the department since September 1997 and works in the Canine Unit.
The department did not elaborate in the statement on the nature of the charge or say who had been assaulted.
