COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s Eddrick Houston went down during Thursday’s practice with an apparent right leg injury.
Luckily for the Buckeyes, the injury does not appear to be a long-term concern, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
“The early results are that it’s not considered serious,” Thamel reported on X (formerly Twitter).
Houston is entering his sophomore season and is expected to be a starter at defensive tackle.
While there’s always concern when a projected starter goes down, Houston’s situation felt amplified because of the position he plays.
Coach Ryan Day has expressed concerns about the Buckeyes’ depth at defensive tackle throughout the offseason. Behind Houston and Kayden McDonald, it’s unclear who will surface as a viable option between Tywone Malone, Jason Moore and Will Smith Jr.
Ohio State practiced without pads on Thursday — which will remain the case Friday and Saturday. Both practices will be open to the fans, as was Thursday’s.
