Houston doctor charged with assault of a peace officer

A Houston-based doctor has been charged with assaulting a peace officer.

Octavio E. Pajaro, M.D., Ph.D. was arrested on Thursday morning. He appeared in PC court at 3 a.m. Friday morning.

Dr. Pajaro serves as professor of surgery and associate chief at Baylor College of Medicine and the chief of cardiothoracic surgery at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.

The circumstances that led up to the arrest remain unclear at this time.

Dr. Pajaro is out after posting a $10,000 bond.
