The annual Concours in the Hills car show roared back into Fountain Park on April 19, raising more than $437,000 for Phoenix Children’s through sponsorships, registrations, vendors and donations.
Presented by Discount Tire, the community-driven event featured more than 1,000 vehicles across categories such as European, Domestic, Asian, Race Cars, Off-Road and Motorcycles. Proceeds from this year’s show benefit Phoenix Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and the Cardiothoracic Surgery Support Fund.
“The community and sponsor support for this 11th anniversary event has been nothing short of extraordinary,” said Peter Volny, founder and chairman emeritus of Concours in the Hills. “As members of the automotive community, it’s an incredible honor to help drive meaningful change in the lives of the children and families served by Phoenix Children’s.”
A special display of limited-edition exotics drew large crowds, showcasing ultra-rare vehicles such as a Koenigsegg Trevita—one of only two in existence—a road-legal Gumpert Apollo, and a 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB, which was later awarded Best of Show.
Other award winners included:
-
Best Domestic: 1967 Plymouth GTX
-
Best Import: 1955 Austin Healey 100-4 BN1
-
Best Race Car: 1936 Alfa Romeo Botticella Spider

Originally scheduled for Feb. 15, the event was postponed due to inclement weather but still drew an estimated 40,000 attendees. The show featured seven helicopters—including military aircraft such as a Black Hawk and Cobra—and more than 85 sponsor booths and food vendors.
The event opened with a ceremony led by Volny and a lineup of retired professional drivers including Derek Daly, Didier Theys, Lyn St. James, Arie Luyendyk and Harley Cluxton. Darin Roberge of Motorwërks Marketing emceed the program.
Concours in the Hills began in 2014 with just 220 vehicles and 3,000 spectators. Since then, it has grown into one of Arizona’s premier auto shows, now hosted by Phoenix Children’s with support from its auxiliary group, PCH50. Known as “The Fifty,” the group is composed of community leaders working to expand support for pediatric healthcare.
“Concours in the Hills continues to be a powerful example of what can be accomplished when passion meets purpose,” said Dr. Kris Birkeland, event chairman and member of PCH50. “We are enthusiastic about the ongoing growth and lasting impact that both Phoenix Children’s and the PCH50 foster.”
