A worker at a Brooklyn mini-mart died after he was stabbed in an apparent unprovoked attack at the shop’s counter, according to law enforcement sources.

Police were called just after 3 p.m. to the deli and mini market on the corner of Hegeman Avenue and Van Siclen Avenue in East New York. Responding officers found the 33-year-old worker stabbed multiple times in his stomach.

The victim was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he died, police said. He was later identified as Diego Sandoval-Nava, and he lived in the same building where the market is located.

No arrests have yet been made. Law enforcement sources said it was believed to be an unprovoked attack by a man who tried to get behind the counter, and stabbed the employee in the process.

An investigation is ongoing.
