(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) In an event at the Story Collective in Downtown St. Joseph on Saturday, August 2, local author Elora Maxwell spoke with the public about her newest tale, “The River’s Deception”.

This is her fifth publication since 2023, when “The Shore of Forever” hit shelves and online retailers.

In this newest tale, she takes readers on an adventure story with elements of mystery and supernatural feelings. It follows Lillian and Ben on their journey down the Amazon River in the 1920s.

Maxwell was proud to incorporate themes from personal favorite movies, such as “The Mummy” movie series and tales from Indiana Jones.

Maxwell shared it’s her love of writing that keeps her busy in telling the newest stories.

“I’ve loved storytelling, and I’ve loved history since a very, very young age, and I just always knew I wanted to be a writer, and so with the way that I write,” Maxwell shared. “I write quite a few different genres, whether it’s historical fiction, historical romance, contemporary romance, or a mystery. That’s kind of what keeps me going, is just being able to be free with my creativity and write whatever I’m inspired by.”

Maxwell shared the best way to get “The River’s Deception” is by visiting  The Story Collective in downtown St. Joseph. For all other ways to purchase her newest tale and others, click here.
