SAN ANTONIO – A woman is in critical condition after she was shot while driving late Wednesday night on the West Side.

The shooting took place just before midnight Wednesday at Southwest Loop 410 near Marbach Road.

As officers arrived, they discovered the 23-year-old woman, who had been struck by gunfire while driving through a turnaround beneath the highway.

According to police, the woman was shot in the ribcage from someone in a white truck, who fired several shots at her vehicle. After being hit, she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a pole in a McDonald’s parking lot.

Emergency responders found the woman unresponsive at the scene. She was rushed to the hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition as of early Thursday morning.

Authorities have not released any information about the suspect or a possible vehicle connected to the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
