A man was fatally shot in Fort Worth’s Northside early Sunday, according to the Fort Worth Police Department.
Around 6 a.m., officers responded to a shooting call at the 2900 block of North Main Street. They found the victim inside of his apartment with at least one apparent gunshot wound to his torso. Medical personnel soon arrived and pronounced the victim dead on the scene, police said.
Detectives learned that the suspect arrived at the location with several other people and knocked on the victim’s door. A witness answered the door, followed shortly by victim, police said.
The victim and suspect spoke briefly and the victim closed the door. Police said the suspect then returned to the vehicle they arrived in and retrieved a handgun from either the vehicle or its occupants.
Returning to the door, the suspect fired multiple shots though the door that struck the victim. After the shooting, the suspect and others fled the scene in the vehicle.
Shortly later, police said the suspect and other vehicle occupants were spotted at a nearby business. Officers responded and arrested the suspect, along with detaining the other occucpants.
The suspect will be booked into jail on a murder charge after being interviewed, police said. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identity the victim.
