The chairman of Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan’s handpicked business council says employers should be able to make their own decisions on work-from-home arrangements after the state government vowed to enshrine hybrid working into law.

Ahmed Fahour, the chief executive of Gurner Group, said individual members of the advisory group Allan assembled last year to help improve ties with the business community learned of the government’s plan only on Saturday when it was publicly revealed.
