A shooting after a party in downtown Los Angeles left two people dead and several others injured overnight.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers shut down a warehouse party hours before the shooting occurred. At least six people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

The party near the area of 14th and Paloma streets was shut down at around 11 p.m. and by 1 a.m. officers received reports of shots fired from the same location.

One of the victims is said to be 29 years old, the man’s father tells NBC4. He says his son has three young children. The father of the victim described his son as a respectful gentleman.

A witness who did not want to be identified said they saw a person laying on the ground and a woman was also shot about a block down the street. The witness said it did not appear anyone was calling 911 so they made the call.

When police initially shut down the party, a captain with the LAPD said they did arrest someone for firearm possession.

It was not clear if there was one shooter or more than one. The investigation is ongoing.
