‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ Star Admits He Was ‘Crushed’ When He Was Unexpectedly Fired originally appeared on Parade.

‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ star is Nate Richert is getting candid about his time on the iconic show.

Richert, who played Harvey Kinkle, the boyfriend to Melissa Joan Hart‘s Sabrina, spoke about his exit while speaking on a recent episode of “Pod Meets World,” a podcast hosted by “Boy Meets World” fixtures Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Friedle.

The actor, who started on the hit teen show when he was 17, explained how he was let go after starring in 125 episodes.

“They revamped the show at one point and I got booted and then they brought me back for the last two episodes, it was crushing,” he explained, mentioning he was told by higher ups that “we’ve exhausted the story lines for your character and we’re going in a different direction.”

However, as a young 20-something — who starred in 125 episodes of the show — was relatively new to show business, and didn’t fully realize that he’d no longer be a part of the show.

“I was like what exactly does that mean?” he recalled. “I didn’t realize I was getting fired just yet.”

As for the show’s storyline at that time, Sabrina had started dating someone else.

Following his time on the show, Richert explained that he went on to various auditions, mentioning that he was almost on the show “Scrubs.”

“Sabrina the Teenage Witch” aired from 1996 to 2003 for seven seasons. Richert returned for season six when Harvey and Sabrina got back together.
