OXNARD, Calif. – Jonathan Mingo is making waves. Traeshon Holden is making waves. Jalen Tolbert is making waves. All three of these tidbits being true, it’s Tolbert who has the faith of Schottenheimer and the Cowboys after leading the club in touchdowns one season ago.
That’s not the only reason, though. The other is the fact that, quiet as it’s kept, Tolbert is potentially having the most consistent camp of the three names mentioned, and in multiple ways. So, granted, while it’s Mingo and Holden routinely being discussed more, it’s Tolbert silently impressing those paying attention to his reps.
And, on Monday, he made his best play of camp: a catch deep down the right side of the field on a go route, on a ball from Dak Prescott, fighting through very a glaring defensive penalty (jersey was being pulled as he streaked downfield) to bring the ball in as he fell to the ground but before his knee went out of bounds. Well hello there, sir.
